  4. titles introducing readers to real-time on-line conversations.  This book
  5. will guide you into this fascinating world that has been compared by
  6. many to Citizens' Band (CB) Radio, mainly for its similarities in engaging
  7. in communiations with total strangers on a random basis.

  9. INTERNET CHAT QUICK TOUR will tell you what to do in order to get connected
  10. to IRC and how to communicate within this multi-channel medium, showing
  11. which of these channels are fun, wierd and informative and how to participate
  12. in them.  Also covered are rules of etiquette, behavioral quirks and patterns
  13. you're likely to encounter and some warnings as well.

  15. There is pretty decent coverage of the various chat channels on a multitude
  16. of subjects which explains what kind of discussion you may expect to find
  17. on them and information on IRC-related World Wide Web pages.  The appendices
  18. list many IRC servers, contain a glossary of terminology and an explaination
  19. of the free On-line Companion service offered by Ventana Press.

  21. Although I am not personally familiar with IRC and on-line chatting, the
  22. book seems to explain the basics quite satisfactorily and thoroughty
  23. enough to satisfy anyone interested in becoming active on this interesting
  24. new communication medium.  Donald Rose's book managed to pique my interest
  25. to the point that I may give it a try, when I have a few hours to kill.
